WG5 datasets are designed to evaluate the following process models:

• Large Eddy Simulations (LES) and Cloud Resolving
• Models (CRM)
• Radiative transfer models
• Explicit microphysics models

The same data can be used to evaluate:

• Single Column Models (SCM)
• Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) models

Some datasets of longer period are assembled specifically to evaluate single-column models and regional models.

The WG5 cases are divided into the following two categories:

• WG5 Model Intercomparison Projects, for which suitable datasets are being assembled for formal model intercomparison studies.
  
  
• WG5 Case Studies, which is an assembly of data for case studies suited to specific types of process models or single-column models.
